What's not included
Grains
Grains (e.g. Oats, Wheat) are often marketed as 'healthy' breakfast foods. Whilst they can be beneficial nutritionally, they can cause blood-sugar spikes. Prioritise eating grains before/after exercise only.
We recommend skipping altogether at breakfast unless you have an active day ahead of you.
Fruit*
Much like grains, fruits have nutritional benefit but can contribute to blood sugar spikes and inconsistent energy levels. Adding a few low-sugar berries to Thriiv is likely okay but we encourage you to experiment - Start with nothing added.
*African Baobab is included and is technically a fruit but has very low sugar levels
Sugar and Artificial Sweeteners
Widely known to contribute to short-term and long-term issues. Okay in moderation but already used in many of our foods across society.
We therefore won't be adding them to our foods, ever.
Honey and Maple Syrup
Yes they are natural and yes they have nutritional benefits!
However, they are also very high in sugar, and we therefore exclude them to make achieving stable morning blood-sugar levels a breeze.
High-dose Vitamins
Have you ever looked at the back of a supplement packet and seen 'Provides 1000% of your daily allowance'? This is not our ethos.
We believe in a whole-foods-first diet but also recognise the challenge to cover all nutritional gaps. That's why we only add vitamins that society are commonly deficient in and add 50% of your needs. We challenge you to get the rest from real food!
